Wow, it’s been about 18 months since I’ve last blogged. It’s nice to come back. Starting fresh, it’s a new year and I have committed to not create such a chasm between posts. As I stated, it is a new year and as we all know resolutions are made and by March, most resolutions have been placed on the shelf, forgotten until the end of the year comes around and then the resolutions begin to get dusted off the shelf to find life for a couple of weeks again.
With the beginning of the year, I decided resolutions are not for me. I decided I needed to change my whole frame of thinking, not just create a list of those things that I should do and then if they don’t happen, well, there’s always next year. I’m tired of running in the hamster wheel, it’s time to come off of the wheel and start living, instead of shelving some great list I had at the beginning of the year.
That being said, the greatest step I’ve taken to begin 2011 is to participate in a fast that we are doing at church. This fast is focusing on growing closer to God and discovering His will in our lives. There are many facets as to how this fast blesses everyone involved, but for me, personally, I am praying for God’s presence to be in every aspect of my life. I want to ooze the spirit of Christ in all that I do. I want the entirety of my existance to dwell in Christ, to live for Him and not just know of Him, but to become more like Him.
I wait in great expectation for what will transpire as the days of the fast continue and the renewal that I will experience personally and for the awesome blessing that will happen at our church as a result of our fast.
This will be a great year!

Stovall Weems and Celebration Church in Jacksonville, Fla are currently leading a 21 day Awakening fast. There are lots of resources available about fasting in general and the Awakening fast at http://www.awake21.org. If you’re faced with fasting’s challenges, you can also log on to the site to get a “spiritual meal” three times a day from some of the most well-known pastor from across the country. Good luck!

Monica,
Thank you for the information. Our church, Cornerstone, http://www.cornerstonechurchrgv.com is following the fast that Stovall Weems is leading. It has been phenomenal and I know it will only get better.

Mija,
Your post blesses my heart more than words can say. To know that you are seeking God more and more and that He is your number one priority makes me only love Him more and thank Him all the days of my life. To know that my children know and love Him with all of their heart and follow Him daily is what my heart has desired always. May you continue to be “desperate” for Him and may He continue to give you the desires of your heart.
I love you,
Mom

Thanks Mama. You are a great example to me of what it means to be “desperate” for God. Thank you for your leadership and model in what being a Christ-follower should be.
